Description

Thealoz Gel is the same formula as those single-use Thealoz Duo Gel vials, except now it's in a 15ml bottle with 400 drops. If you've been buying boxes of minims and burning through them, this is what you've been waiting for.

Three active ingredients. Trehalose coats your corneal cells. Hyaluronic acid handles moisture. Carbomer is the gel agent that keeps everything in place longer. That third ingredient is why they dropped "Duo" from the name. It's not two anymore.

Thealoz Gel vs Thealoz Duo — which one do you actually need?

The short version: if Duo gets you to lunch, stick with Duo. If it doesn't, Gel is the upgrade you're looking for.

Thealoz Duo Thealoz Gel
Active Ingredients Trehalose + HA (2) Trehalose + HA + Carbomer (3)
Relief Duration ~4 hours ~6 hours (Wozniak 2017)
Bottle 10ml ABAK, 300 drops 15ml Novelia, 400 drops
Price per Drop ~11 cents ~12 cents
Consistency Liquid drop Gel (thicker, slight haze for 30 seconds)
Contact Lenses Yes Remove lenses first
Preservative-Free Yes Yes

Both from Thea Pharma. Both preservative-free and phosphate-free. The price per drop is nearly identical, which surprises people. You're getting a stronger gel with a third active ingredient for basically the same cost as the lighter version. Compare that to I-Drop Pur Gel at 16 cents a drop or HYLO Gel at 19.

The Novelia bottle is easier to squeeze than you'd expect

Different bottle system from your Duo. Single-walled instead of the double-walled ABAK. If you've ever had to white-knuckle an I-Drop bottle to get a drop out, this is the opposite experience. Light press, one drop, done.

Blue tip for aim. Silver ion in the cap keeps it sterile without preservatives. First drop takes a couple extra seconds because the filter needs to prime. Not a defect. After that it's quick.

One thing: it's a gel. You'll get maybe 30 seconds of slight haze after putting it in. No glycerine in the formula though, so it clears way faster than the milky film you get from most gels. We've compared it side by side with HYLO Gel and it's noticeably better on the blur front.

Benefits
  • Clinically proven 6-hour tear film stability.
  • Three active ingredients (trehalose + hyaluronic acid + carbomer) working together instead of one or two.
  • 400 drops per bottle at 12 cents each, same price per drop as the lighter Thealoz Duo.
  • Low-blur gel formula clears in under a minute, unlike glycerine gels that cloud your vision.
  • Preservative-free Novelia bottle with silver ion antimicrobial tip, single-walled for easy squeezing.
Symptoms
  • Thealoz Gel is recommended for people experiencing Moderate to severe dry eye where regular drops wear off within a few hours.
  • Gritty, burning, or sandy-feeling eyes that come back before the end of the day.
  • Those who are already using Thealoz Duo who need longer-lasting relief.
  • Pre-operative and post-operative eye surgery recovery (consult your surgeon)
  • Nighttime dryness or discomfort that disrupts sleep.
Ingredients
  • Trehalose (3%), Bioprotective sugar that shields corneal cells from drying stress and supports surface repair
  • Hyaluronic Acid (0.15%), Binds moisture to the ocular surface for sustained hydration between applications
  • Carbomer (0.25%), Gel-forming agent that extends how long the drop stays on your eye, reducing reapplication frequency
  • Preservative-free. Phosphate-free.
FAQ
Q: What's the difference between Thealoz Gel and Thealoz Duo?
A: Duo has two ingredients (trehalose + hyaluronic acid) and lasts about 4 hours. Gel adds carbomer as a third ingredient, extending relief to about 6 hours. Same price per drop. If Duo works for you, stick with it. Gel is for when it's not enough.

Q: Is Thealoz Gel preservative-free?
A: Yes. Preservative-free and phosphate-free. The Novelia bottle uses silver ion technology to stay sterile without preservatives.

Q: Can I wear contact lenses with Thealoz Gel?
A: Not recommended with lenses in. Apply before inserting or after removing your lenses. Daily disposables are fine since you toss them at end of day.

Q: How long does one bottle last?
A: 400 drops. At 3 times a day for both eyes, roughly 2 months.

Q: Is this the same as Thealoz Duo Gel minims?
A: Same formula, different packaging. The minims are single-use vials. This is a 15ml multidose bottle with 400 drops.
